As concrete tanks are made from poured concrete, much flexibility can be offered according to user requirements, their shape and application. Difficult to access sites, shapes and sizes pose little issue since they are constructed onsite. Concrete tanks are often used for underground cisterns, and for industrial sizes tanks up to around 500,000 litres.
The downside to concrete tanks is that they can be rather expensive. They are often long lasting, although cracking can happen over time depending upon the strength of concrete and level of reinforced with steel. In addition, one should be aware that when using for storing drinkable water, filtration is recommended since lime will leak into the water providing an strange taste.
